to Ecuador.

Dear Friends and Family,

Some of you might have already heard that I have been given the opportunity to travel to Ecuador this March on a medical mission trip with a non-profit organization, Operation Helping Hands ( www.ohh.vcu.edu )

Operation Helping Hands is an international surgical relief group comprised of dedicated surgeons, surgical residents, anesthesiologists, and surgical nurses from Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical College of Virginia Hospitals and the Richmond community. Last year a small group of medical students helped found the student arm of the organization that is geared towards humanitarian aspects of medical missions. We have been actively fundraising to bring medications and toys to the children at the School of the Angels in Taisha, Ecuador, as well as medical supplies to the community clinics in the areas we will be visiting.

Our trip begins on March 8th and will continue through the following Saturday. We fly into Quito and travel to Taisha where we will deliver the toys and medicines to the children. After spending the next two days in Taisha with the students and working at the community health center, we will travel to two other villages in the Amazon to assist their clinics and evaluate their medical needs. There are no roads in this area and many members of the tribes have never been able to see a doctor or receive treatment. This will be an invaluable experience, one that allows us to help these people and arrange for continuing support.

Because Operation Helping Hands is a non-profit organization, individual members are responsible for financing the entire cost of the trip, which amounts to $1,000 per person. I would greatly appreciate your support of my cause and welcome any contribution you are able to make in regard to medical supplies for needy patients or to use toward my trip expenses. All donations are 100% tax deductible. You can make your donations using a credit card/ or paypal through this website, or check by mail.

I will greatly appreciate your support and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you upon my return.

Thank you,

Kasia
